In late 2015, the National Credit Union Foundation leveraged the online disaster relief system CUAid.coop to distribute money for credit union people affected by wildfires in California.
The Foundation coordinated with Redwood Credit Union and Mendo Lake Credit Union to distribute funds efficiently to credit union employees and members in the affected areas. Over $80,000 was ultimately distributed from the credit union community to aid in the disaster relief effort.
